My wife and I visit Pacific Grove every July. This is our first summer at La Gloria. It was a great stay! The property is ideally located next to Book Works coffee and book shop. The house is well cared for and very clean. The furniture including beds is comfortable. The kitchen is fairly spacious and well-equipped. The three bedrooms and two bathrooms are all upstairs, which could impact its suitability for some guests. Parking can be a challenge during the day due to tourists and others visiting the shops and restaurants on Lighthouse Ave.

Beautiful, charming, immaculate, just steps from Downtown and numerous wonderful restaurants. The house is everything as described. The Sanctuary Management Team are fantastic! We drove 20 hours for our 30 day vacation and was rewarded by staying in this beautiful Little Gem! As with all vacations, they always end far too soon, but we will plan for another at La Gloria next year!! We highly recommend Sanctuary Vacation Rentals anyone planing to vacation in the incomparably beautiful Pacific Grove, CA

We’ve stayed in Pacific Grove before at other rentals and La Gloria Cottage is one of our favorites. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. It was in a great location right in the heart of town. A short walk to the park, food, coffee and the beach. It was great for a family with kids. Would definitely stay here again!

There is Much to Love About La Gloria Cottage

Architecturally, it is quite ingenious. The angles and play of light are captivating, making what is actually a fairly small space feel spacious and interesting. We especially loved and used the fireplace that opened into both the living room and kitchen/dining area.
The location was perfect for us. There were many days we did not even get into the car. We were within walking distance of shops, restaurants, a hardware store, the post office, ATMS, an excellent little market, liquor stores, florist, and most importantly, Lovers Point and magnificent pathways along Monterey Bay. We were there during winter and Covid, so things were very quiet. I imagine parking, traffic, and the gas station right next door would be considerations during peak season.
We appreciated the furnishings and the many amenities provided. The kitchen had just about everything we could want (except a functioning oven, see below), there were luxurious robes in the closets, escape ladders in the bedrooms, battery operated candles for atmosphere (although we needed to supply our own batteries). We arrived to find ample paper products, cleaning supplies, and toiletries. The washer/dryer on the second floor was a huge plus.
The garage offered storage for luggage and overflow like water, wine, TP, paper towels.
Now the caveats: while there are two bathrooms, both are on the second floor; there is no mail delivery at the house, which turned into a major hassle because we were there for almost seven weeks over Christmas; we had no oven (the property managers graciously provided a fancy countertop oven, but it not only took up counter space, but was not efficient for baking); and the windows need work.
If these issues are addressed (okay, running upstairs to use the WC was good for our glutes, so we can live with that), we would happily rent this house again.

We apologize once again for the malfunctioning oven and despite our best efforts to find a replacement we were unable to, and hope that at least the countertop oven and the financial compensation were able to offset the frustration. Otherwise, we can't foresee being able to do anything with the washrooms, but we would love to welcome you back to the home once again in the future. Thanks again for the review.

We loved everything about this home — the set up and cleanliness and comfort were unparalleled, and the management of the home superb. They thought of everything — well stocked kitchen for dishes and pots and pans, bathrooms had lots of fluffy towels, fireplace worked to make downstairs cozy. The photos of the home are exactly what we got, and we are so glad we found this sweet respite for a few days away. Great location for excursions to Carmel, Monterey Bay. aquarium, kayaking, and also super comfortable for just relaxing.

This home was perfect for us and our two daughters. Everyone had their own room which were very well appointed with bedding, pillows, towels, and portable fans! (Heat advisory) The home is very clean & comfortable. We walked to coffee every morning and enjoyed an easy stroll to the beach. They provided all the beach gear you’d need however we didn’t use it. We will definitely keep this home on our short list for future visits to the Penninsula!

Overall Comment
It was perfect in every way. We all slept extremely well; had all (and more) that we could hope for in the kitchen and the house in general. It was a very easy place to stay and super convenient to our favorite restaurants, bookstore, coffee shop, etc.
One suggestion would be to think about replacing the “failed” glass in the front door and front windows. The home is perfectly looked after in every other way and its a pity the glass is not up to the same standard.

La Gloria is a sweet little cottage in the perfect location. Very clean and welcoming. Super comfortable beds and great water pressure in the shower!
Right in the heart of Pacific Grove you can walk to many restaurants and all kinds of shopping. Monterey Aquarium just a 5 minute drive and Carmel 10-15.
Beachfront trails go for miles!
